let them eat cake

And finally, finally, here it is... my photo-shoot styled (so many lovely dresses!) by Jaclyn Bethany of the Audrey Grace Boutique. I had to find a model (and I was lucky to find the most darling, lovely girl named Tiffany), and come up with a "girly" concept. And what better girly concept than a tea-party theme? In the end, the photo-shoot became a strange hybrid between Alice In Wonderland and Marie Antoinette... and that combination is, of course, lovely beyond belief! Here are a few of my favorites, though you can see more on my flickr.

These photographs were taken for the official launch of the Boutique's online store, which you can view here (and most likely, like me, marvel at all the beautiful dresses, but fail to actually possess the ability to purchase something....) Please check them out! My photographs should be on the website and official blog within a few weeks. x

changes & healing

My bed, and my wall of treasured things.

x

It is truly amazing how things can change in 24 hours. Life has been very hectic lately (just a few days ago I finished my freshman year and moved out of college, three hundred miles back to home), and I was greeted with an intense summer heat and that odd feeling of getting used to being with people who you haven't been around in a very long time. I had lots of unpacking to do, but it was lovely having my own bedroom again and organizing all of my treasures and trinkets, not to mention having a backyard again. Yesterday evening, I waltzed around the house and yard, collecting all sorts of lovely flowers to press into my flower-pressing scrapbook, and took photographs of my bedroom and danced about listening to my favorite fifties soda-fountain hits. At about 10 pm, however, I doubled over in pain, with the most awful feeling in my stomach. It wouldn't go away for an hour or so, so I was rushed off to the emergency room - where I spent the night, being injected with IVs and morphine and having all sorts of radiation-filled scans. The doctors released me late this morning, with some medication (unfortunately, I have a problem with one of my organs), and the statement that I may get better on my own, but if not, then surgery will be necessary. So today I spent in bed, blogging and going through photographs (will be posting some soon!) and feeling generally miserable, though I did finally get the chance to pick up a book again and to work on pressing those pretty flowers.

Freshly-picked flowers on my desk.

My closet (I must clean it at the bottom, but I am happy to finally have all my dresses, skirts, and blouses hung up.

My desk, dresses to reconstruct and mend, and the old animal conservatory stickers that seem to be permanently stuck to my windows.

The flowers up-close. I shall photograph them once they've finished being pressed, too. x

june 7th

This afternoon, I met up with the lovely Tara for the second time, and we did the three most wonderful things in the world: went to an art museum, tried on beautiful vintage dresses, and ate ice cream!

I am still considering going back to the thrift store and purchasing this. It is so darling that I can hardly stand it.

A fun-house mirror in the modern art museum!

This was a beautiful princess-like dream dress. If only it wasn't so expensive...

All in all, a delightful day. x

audrey grace boutique (preview)

If you haven't already heard of the Audrey Grace Boutique (and I'm certain you have), then I highly suggest you click on that link there and scroll through the pages awe-struck, marveling at the loveliness of, for instance, the pop-up-shop's grand opening in New York last fall.... the reason I mention it is also the reason why I am stopping by this blog for a very brief post despite the tremendous amount of work I currently have to do, studying for exams and creating final art projects.

And that reason is... the wonderful Jaclyn Bethany, owner of the boutique, has asked me to do a fashion photo shoot for the store/its website! I'll keep you mostly in the dark for the time being about the details, but rest assured, you'll be seeing results from said photo shoot soon enough, as it's happening this Saturday (so soon!)

Today I received some of the dresses I'm to use in the mail from Jaclyn. I am so very excited for Saturday. x
